'' BINA'' Daughter of Sudan

I recently collaborated with photographer Olga Kholm. Olga took a couple of pictures of me wearing some looks from my summer collection 2024 titled Daughter Of Sudan, which was inspired by my childhood memories and women in Sudan clothing. While creating the collection, I was remembering the tender and earthy colors in Sudan Khartoum, the color of the desert, the white Nile and blue Nile, along with the weather. How often people wear very light clothing which is made of natural textiles such as cotton and linen because of the heat. Also, it reminds me of my grandmother, who often wore a white thawb, pronounced tobe in Sudanese dialect.
What is thobe ?
The thobe is a white or colorful long, one-piece cloth that women wrap around their undergarments, usually covering their head and hair. There is a dress called jalabiya, which is a loose-fitting, long-sleeved, collarless ankle-length garment also common in Egypt.
Types of Jalabiya
The jalabiya may be white, coloured, striped, and made of fabric varying in thickness, depending on the season of the year and personal preferences.
This part of the collection is just to highlight some of Sudanese women's traditional wear. I wanted to transform some of this gramand into modern and wearable for almost all occasions as the collection turns out to be fashionable, and it can be combined into different styles. It's up to the individual preferences.
Stay tuned. I’ll continue to recreate and take you on a journey of the Sudanese women traditional wear and their culture. For now, enjoy yourself and if you have any questions, feel free to reach out via the contact list available on my website section.

At the end of the photo shoot, Olga said" Bina is beautiful, but there's a bit of sadness in you, why, and I said it is because I miss my family and especially my mother. I love my family bond and I couldn't imagine myself growing apart from my beloved mother. To me, a family bond is something divine and I value it.
